Event Information
This year’s event will be held on Friday, May 19th, at the Presidential Banquet Center in Kettering. Presentations will begin at 9:00 am after the Welcoming and Guest Speaker.
Presentation Guidelines
First and foremost HAVE FUN!
You will be assigned an “Event Tour Guide” once your submission has been approved.
All presentations must use PowerPoint including a title page, team or individual introduction, and an agenda/outline.
Presentations should be 20 minutes in length. This will leave you with 10 minutes for Q/A.
All finalized presentations are due no later than April 28, 2017.
Submit your presentation to your assigned “Sidekick”
Please note: you will NOT be able to make changes to your presentation material after May 12, 2017.
Presentation Tips
Start your presentation with a hook. Explain the importance or the outcome you achieved first and then in go into detail about how you got there.
Keep text to a minimum and split long bulleted lists into multiple slides, if possible. If you’d like to include additional detail that doesn’t fit into the slides, you can create supplemental materials that can be linked from the Learnapalooza website.
Because most presentations take place in large rooms, we suggest 14pt fonts (at a minimum) with special attention given to adequate contrast. Colored fonts on a colored background can be tough to read. Red text and yellow text are particularly difficult.
Ensure that screenshots don’t contain Personal Health Information (PHI).
Consider including a slide at the end with your contact information.
Reach out to your Event Tour Guide to practice, along with co-workers or friends to gather feedback and to make sure you’re not going over 20 minutes.
Offer a “backstage pass” after the event. Your Event Tour Guide can help you set these up and they will be posted on the Learnapalooza websites event calendar.
