What is a Microsession

Microsessions are a new presentation format that we’re introducing at Learnapalooza this year. We’ve had a lot of questions about microsessions and how do they work. The best way that we’ve found to explain it is to relate it to something that we’re mostly familiar with… Microsoft.

Sometimes referred to as breakout sessions, the room where microsessions are presented would have tables set up with chairs surrounding. Each table would have a speaker that would lead the discussion and on a sub topic. For our example, if the overall topic is Microsoft, maybe one table is talking specifically about how to create better PowerPoint presentations while another table is talking about complex formulas or how to use charts and graphs in Excel.

The content delivered is quick and easy to digest in 10 to 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, attendees switch tables. Each speaker would repeat the previously delivered message for the new group of attendees. During a 45 minute session, speakers would deliver the same message to the group at their table 2-3 times.
